November 18 - Saint Rose Philippine Duchesne

Rose was a young French woman, who as a child and youth was very dominating and capricious. During her studies, however, Rose became extremley interested in the history of Native Americans. When she was 17 years old, Rose experienced a conversion and entered the convent, where initially she was unable to make her vows because of the French Revolution. She later entered the Society of the Sacred Heart. Rose wanted to become a missionary but it wasn’t until she was 50 years old that she was sent to the United States. She worked in Mississippi, where together with other religious sisters, she established a school for poor children. As she grew older, Rose also became kinder and less dominant. She overcame all types of obstacles to open new convents in the New World. St. Rose Philippine Duchesne lived the rest of her days among the Native Americans. Nothing is impossible for God.

What personal flaws or external obstacles would you have to overcome in order to follow God’s will for you?
