He was the bishop of Jerusalem in the 3rd century. He was already at an old age when he was named bishop. Narcissus was a man of great virtue, but many slanderous rumors were spread against him. Even though the majority of the people did not believe the lies being told of him, Narcissus took advantage of the opportunity to go live in the desert to pray. The people went looking for him and then he returned to Jerusalem, and brought joy to the people.
