Franciscans, Province of Saint John the Baptist
The Friars of Saint John the Baptist Province are part of the world-wide Franciscan Order which was founded by Saint Francis of Assisi over 800 years ago. The first members of our Province arrived in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1844. Since then we have been serving the Church in a wide variety of ministries. Presently we minister in high schools and universities, in parishes, hospitals (as nurses and chaplains), and inner cities. We preach retreats and publish books, catechetical aids, CDs, and audio books at Franciscan Media, and work in foreign and domestic missions giving voice to the marginalized. Our primary ministry, however, is to live the Gospel as Brothers to one another and to the world.
