When I arrived in Chicago from my native Guadalajara, Mexico, I brought an empty suitcase and a heart full of dreams and determination. It was a major change for me. I studied and worked hard and achieved academic success, but there was something that changed my life even more radically.

Imagine for a minute that the only way you have to communicate with others is through your actions. Have you ever thought what kind of person you have seem to be before your neighbor and Christ?

There is no doubt that nowadays one of the strongest challenges we have as a church is the evangelization of youth.

As a young person, I believe that understanding the sacrament of Baptism is of utmost importance in order to understand the call of Christ in each one of us. In the first place, we must remember that by Baptism we become the children of God. But, have you ever wonder why we become God’s children by Baptism? What is the meaning of becoming a child of God?

Following in footsteps of Jesus 

The first to follow in the footsteps of Jesus were the Disciples. After the death of Jesus, they continued proclaiming the Good News of salvation. When we look at the history of the Apostles we realize that the great majority of them were martyred. For example, Saint Peter was crucified upside down because he didn't feel he was worthy to die in the same way as Jesus. Saint Andrew was tied down to a cross in the form of an X, and was left there to starve. And like these, there are many.
