My fault or God’s?

To what extent are we responsible for our actions and where does God protection over us start? It seems like a riddle.

Even if it might sound absurd, many times we blame God for what happens to us and we even reproach him for whatever we endure.

Is God to blame when we fail an exam or lose a game, or is it that we are not really up to par in our responsibilities?

God simply gives us the freedom to choose what we want to do and the proof is in the Bible. We can remember that Jesus himself was offered the opportunity to be the king of the earth, tempted by hunger and the opportunity to perform a miracle and turn a stone into bread, and was asked to jump from a cliff since his Father would send the angels to protect him.

Temptations must be present to try our faith and by the same token, we must be strong enough to resist them.

God does not ask of you to fall asleep watching a movie so that the following morning you don’t get out in time to meet your responsibilities. Nor does he ask you to go out with a pretty girl knowing that you have exams and need to study instead.

God is not to blame. Within the freedom he gave us, God also gave us the ability to make decisions, to embark on the right path, and not allow ourselves be swayed by things that may not be bad, but at the moment are simply inadequate.

So let’s stop blaming God for decisions that are our own responsibility, even if we want to justify ourselves by saying he ordered us to do it or it is what he wanted. Let us keep in mind that he also gave us the conscience to know that there was something wrong and yet we decided to continue along that path.

Let us give glory to the name of God by doing what is right when it is right and not allow our lives to have ups and downs because of decisions that we know will bring negative results to our lives.

I don’t think God would want our lives to be a failure. He wants the best for us. Let us not decide to do the contrary. Perhaps God never wanted us to make the decisions we did and we tried to quiet our conscience in order to do what we wanted.

May God bless you and fill you with the Holy Spirit.
