December 1 - Saint Edmund Campion

A young English man, who was very popular in the court of Queen Elizabeth I but he had serious doubts regarding the religion professed by the court and converted to Catholicism. At the time, however, Catholics were being persecuted. Edmund escaped, joined the Jesuits, and was ordained a priest.  Some time later, there was a request for priests to go to England, and Edmund offered to go knowing well that he could be killed. He was quickly apprehended and tortured so he could abandon his faith. St. Edmund refused and died forgiving his executioners, who had formerly been his friends.

Do you sometimes hide your true opinions or beliefs to maintain friendships? Where do you think God wants you today?
