Edmund was an English king who was crowned when he was just 14 years old. The position of power did not turn him into a vain or overpowering person. He cared for the people with kindness and justice. When his country was invaded by barbarians, Edmund refused to accept the terms set by the invaders, considering them to be contrary to his faith. St. Edmund was tortured and martyred.
