November 16 - Saint Margaret of Scotland

Margaret was an English princess. When her mother died she had to flee England because another king had conquered the country, and she went to Scotland, where the king showed them hospitality. The king fell in love with Margaret and they married. Her influence led to the king’s change in character, and as a result the country also changed. They cared for the poor and established schools and churches. Malcolm and Margaret had 8 children, the youngest was St. David. The vocation of marriage is a beautiful one, whereby the alliance between a married couple leads to the formation of a Christian family, the first cell of society.
