As a young man, Jerome enjoyed studying and learning more and more. He had made books his passion and life, to the point of almost being his god. God called him later to use all his knowledge and wisdom in the service of the church, more than in his own personal interests. Pope Damasus called him to Rome so that he could revise the Bible in Latin. For the next 30 years, Jerome was dedicated to this task and thanks to him we have the edition of the Bible that is most faithful to the original. He also wrote many works of theology and spirituality.
