The gospel today says that Herod wanted to see Jesus. We imagine it was for nothing too good. The various Herods who appear in the gospels are always a synonym of danger for Jesus. Herod wanted to see Jesus because he was curious to know who he was, as there were rumors that he was a reincarnation of John, who had been beheaded by Herod. It was not the case with Herod, but God might even use the curiosity to provide an encounter with the living Jesus.
