August 19 – Saint Jean Eudes
He was the oldest son of a farmer and his parents wanted him to get married and have a family. Softly, but firmly, John refused and joined the Congregation of the Oratory to become a priest. Shortly after, there was a plague in the region in France, and John volunteered to care for the sick. Later he became a popular preacher of the missions. He founded the Congregation of the Sisters of Our Lady of Charity of the Refuge and of the Good Shepherd. He also had a great devotion to the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
Have you ever volunteers to do something difficult? Do you sense the calling?
