August 5 - Reflection - Jesus, you are the way, the truth, and the life

Some of us are really concerned about what people think and say about us. We want to create a good impression, to have a good image. Sometimes we even do things so that people can speak well of us. Others seem to be much more indifferent to what people say about them. But when we are young, we normally want to be part of the group, to belong, to be cool… Jesus´ question to his friends, however, seems to be of a different nature. What Jesus wanted to hear was that the disciples had understood his origin as the one sent by God.

We might think that what others think of us is important, but even more important is what Jesus thinks of us. How he sees you, who loves you more than anyone in this world, is what is important.

Am I moved by what others might think of me, or the image I have before others? What is my image before Jesus? Does that motivate me to act? How?
