July 12 – Saint John Gualbert
He lived in Florence, Italy, during the end of the 10th century. His younger brother was assassinated by a supposed friend. John began to search for ways to avenge the death of his brother. One Good Friday, he found his brother’s assassin and, right when he was going to kill him, the man fell to his knees and asked for forgiveness. John picked him up and hugged him. John then went to a monastery where his father had then gone to look for him, threatening to burn down the monastery. John came out to see his father dressed as a monk, his father was convinced and let him stay. From then on, John became a model for Christ followers and a helper for the needy.
Would you listen to one who asks for forgiveness for their wrong doing?
