Benedict was born in the 5th century. He studied in Rome but did not enjoy life in the city, which at the time was extremely corrupted. He retired to a life of prayer in Enfide and later, together with his friends, created a monastic community. His rule was later adopted by all monasteries. The elements of the rule that are best known are: a life of prayer, work, and the sense of hospitality.
What is your attitude toward work? Do you consider it a burden or an opportunity? How do you welcome people into your home or community? Are you open to welcoming new people?
