A happy and lively girl, Catherine was the next to the last child of 25 siblings. But as a very young child she had a vision of heaven and began to dedicate herself more and more to prayer. Her family wanted her to marry, but her father intervened and said that Catherine’s decision to serve Jesus Christ would have to be respected. She enjoyed great revelations and was a prolific writer about her experiences. Catherine dared to challenge the attitudes of cardinals and even the Pope at the time when the papacy was divided. She worked hard for the church and generously offered her life. Catherine is a Doctor of the Church.
