March 31 - Saint Nicholas de Flue

He was from Sweden and was born in the 15th century. He was married and had ten children and worked from various civic positions. When he was already 50 years old, he heard an inner voice calling him to leave everything he loved behind and to follow Christ. Fortunately, his wife understood his calling and Nicholas devoted the rest of his life to prayer, with a great devotion for the Eucharist. In 1480 his country was divided by the threat of a civil war and Nicholas intervened as mediator and spoke with such wisdom, that the country was saved.

How can you be involved in civic  life for the good of your community?
