March 6 - Saint Colette

In times of Colette there were groups of lay women who joined in communities to live out their faith. They were called the Beguines. Colette joined them but she thought they were not sufficiently austere and pious, according to their original charism. Saint Francis of Assissi asked her to reform the community, but she had great doubts and fears until she finally accepted to do it. Later on she went through the suffering of seeing the church divided as there were three different people claiming the Papacy for themselves. Colette prayed, gave advice and worked for unity. She died in 1447.

Do you sometimes feel called to do something good, but you hesitate because of the difficulties you might encounter?
