The daughter of a wealthy family, Catherine showed from an early age a great inclination to religious things. She was educated in a convent, but at the age of 13 she returned to her father’s house. Her father had a great future prepared for her, but Catherine, thanking him, informed him that she was considering devoting herself in soul and body to the Lord. She later met the Dominican sisters and joined the community. She suffered a terrible disease and received many gifts from heaven: revelations, prophesies, and miracles. Popes, Cardinals, and political leaders came to see her, as well as simple and humble people. She received everyone with kindness.
