He was a friar in Naples and it seems as though he did nothing extraordinary. But his simplicity and humility were distinct. He began each day with the attitude of desiring to serve God. Giles was the doorman of the monastery and attended to all who arrived with attention and care, especially the poor. It is said that, no matter how much Giles gave to the poor, there was always more left over.
