January 13 - Saint Hillary of Poitiers

Born in France in the 4th century, Hillary was not a Christian but he was convinced that patience, kindness, and justice were important values. Out of curiosity he started reading the Bible and by the time he finished, he had become a Christian. He became a priest and was appointed bishop, which made his life rather complicated because the emperor was interfering with the life of the church. The emperor exiled Hillary, which he accepted calmly. From his place of exile, he devoted his time to writing books about the faith. He is a doctor of the church.

Do you get upset if people criticize you or persecute you for your beliefs? Do you defend yourself aggressively, or do you take it calmly? Who or what is annoying you today?
