January 12 - Saint Marguerite Bourgeoys

Trade: educator

She was from France, but received the call to travel to Montreal, where there was a great need for teachers, and she answered. She arrived to Canada in 1653 and began to found schools. Other women joined her, and others traveled from France to help her in her deed. The women created the Congregation of Notre Dame. Marguerite and her brothers continued to open schools and vocational centers. They also started missions between the Native American people, and some young people joined the congregation.

What calling have you received today? What would you have to leave behind to follow it? Would you?
