Raymond Peñafort was a famous teacher and a brilliant man. In 1238 he was elected General Superior of the Dominican Order. He revised the rules and made sure everything was in order. When Raymond finished that work, he returned to his position in order to go back to parish work. The Pope wanted to make him an archbishop, but Raymond refused. He was happy in his parish. He heard that missionaries were finding difficulties in their preaching in the North of Africa and, in order to help them, he opened a school where he taught the language and cultures of those they were to evangelize. Raymond lived to be almost 100 years.
Are you happy in the work and position you are at now? Where do you think you would feel happier?
